Check In Details

October 23 - First check-in for authors! Claims information due.

Authors writing fanfiction should provide 3k words to prove that they are moving along with their fic. This can be provided in either outlines, notes, or as prose.Authors writing a social media au, should provide a basic outline or 50 threads to prove that they are moving along with their au.You should also submit your claims summary separately. This is a small summary of your fic (about 50 to 100 words). This cannot be a quote or an excerpt.
In addition to this summary, please include a list of tags to warn artists about certain aspects of your fics. For example, major content warnings, NSFW content, character death, abuse, gore, etc.
Please specify in these tags whether you are writing a fanfiction to go on ao3, or you are writing a Social Media AU.
The tags do not count towards the summary's word count.

December 4 - First team check-in.

Artists and Writers must have communicated by this point and at least started to discuss ideas. You do not have to provide any specific word count or sketches, but you are free to do so if you want. This is mostly just to let the mods know that things are progressing well between the two of you and that communication is flowing.

March 11 - Second team check-in.

By this point, authors should have about 75% of their fic done.Fanfiction authors must submit at least 10k words in prose, as well as some way to let the mods know you know where the story is going.Social Media AU authors must submit evidence that they have at least 190 threads prepared, as well as some way to let the mods know you know where the story is going.Artists must submit at least the lineart for their piece.

April 8 - Final team check-in.

Authors must submit a rough draft of their completed Big Bang story or evidence for their completed social media au. It does not have to be the final edited piece, but it must at least be a complete story.Artists must submit a rough final draft of their piece by this point, as with authors, it can still be tweaked before actually posting.

Rules of the Event

The purpose of this event is for stories and ideas to be secret up until the point that they are posted. If you are a writer, you are allowed to share your idea with a couple of people if you would like help with planning or with beta reading, but this can not be an artist. If you are an artist, don't share the details about any of the premises for any fics with the writers, or the details of the one you are working on.The pairing for the event will be done anonymously, so artists will get a booklet of all the claims, but they won't know who wrote which idea. Once artists and writers are paired up, you will know who you are paired up with and you will be expected to communicate and collaborate with your partner. If you sign up to this event, you are expected to complete the minimum requirements. For writers, this is a completed fic with a minimum word count of 15k words or a completed social media au with at least 250 threads. For artists, this is a completed art piece.Anyone dropping out past November 6 2023 (with the exception of critical reasons) will result in a ban from any future events. This event is open to anyone of any skill level. We will not be switching anyone partners if the reasoning is based on the quality of your partner's work not being up to your subjective view. This also applies to any form of complaint about the quality of your partner's work as well, especially if you start bullying them in any way.Your partner should constantly have access to an up-to-date copy of your work, as best as you can to achieve this. Good ways to achieve this are creating a shared google drive or discord server for the two of you to communicate and share ideas and WIPs.This is also to ensure that it will be possible to post work despite unexpected technical problems that you might encounter. Please respect your partner's time zone. People are going to be participating from all around the world, and so it is important to make sure that you know when your time zones overlap and that you communicate when you are able to.You will be expected to post between the hours of 8am EST and 8pm EST on the day that you are assigned for art and fanfiction. If you are writing a fanfiction, you must post a complete piece on this day, with no exceptions. If you are writing a social media au, you will be expected to post the entire thing over the course of a month. If you are posting art, you will be expected to post it on a specific day that will be assigned to you.

Guidelines

Guidelines for Artists

Artists are expected to produce a full-colour picture with some kind of background. This is open to interpretation based on your personal style or what your plans are for your piece. (For example, if you're planning to do a comic or multiple art pieces, then you wouldn't be required to fully colour them all or with a full background.)Your canvas size should be at least 2500x2500px.Minors are not allowed to bid for claims that are marked as NSFW or 18+No AI art will be accepted. If you are found to be using this, then you will be banned from future events.

Guidelines for Writers

Specific Guidelines

Fanfiction writers should have a minimum word count of 15k words. You are free to go over this by as much as you want, provided you finish your story before you are required to post.Social Media AU writers should create a complete story. This entails a minimum of 250 threads that will be posted over the course of a month.

Overall Guidelines

Your story must have the primary focus of the story be on AvaTrice, but other ships are allowed to be included in the story. You should include any other ships that feature heavily in your story in the tags you include with your Claims Summary. You are allowed to write NSFW content, but you must tag it as such. You are not allowed to write sexually explicit NSFW content if you are not over 18 yourself, but you can write other kinds of NSFW content (for example violence or gore).Writers will be required to submit a Claims Summary of their fic on October 23. The details of what this should include can be found here.No AI is allowed to be used in conjunction with the writing of either fanfiction or of a social media AU. If you are found to be using this, then you will be banned from future events.

FAQs

What is a Big Bang?
A big bang is an event that is put on for a fandom, or in this case, a ship, where artists and writers work together to create a joint piece. The authors get to plan and work on a story that might be longer than they usually work on and then an artist pairs up with them to draw something based on the fic. It's a great way to meet people in the fandom, and to create a lot of new content!
How do I sign up?
Sign-ups will open for the AvaTrice Big Bang on August 21.
What are the requirements for artists/writers?
You can find them on the rules page.
Can I illustrate my own fic?
Since the main theme of the event is collaboration, doing art for yourself would go against the spirit of the event. Because of this, it is required to work in a team.
Can I still sign up as an artist and a writer?
To prevent people from overworking themselves, we decided to limit it to only allowing people to sign up for one of the two options.
Can I choose my own artist?
The idea of the event is to meet and collaborate with new people that you don't know. As such, artists will be picking the summaries blind without knowing who the author is.
Can I finish a WIP?
Only if the WIP has never been posted anywhere. The idea is that none of the pieces has ever been shared before the posting date anywhere else previously.
Can I tell people I’m participating in the event?
Please do. The more you talk about the event, the more people will sign up! It'll be awesome to get the word out there more and for more people to participate. The more AvaTrice love there is, the better!
Do I need to keep what I’m writing/drawing a secret?
Short answer, yes. To help ensure that both the art claims are completely anonymous and also that the scheduled posts remain a surprise, we ask that you do not share what your fic is about with people that aren't your artist.
You are allowed to have a small number of people that you talk to about your fic to help bounce ideas around or for beta reading, but we ask that you keep this to a minimum. How do art claims work?
All the authors will submit a Claims Summary. These will all be assigned a number and then compiled into an anonymous booklet. The artists will have a week to view the different Claims Summaries and decide on a top five.
On November 6, at 12pm EST, the artists will all be emailed a link to a Google form where they can submit their top 5 favourite ideas. Teams will then be assigned from there. What if I need to drop out?
It's fine if you do need to! Please message a mod, either of our social media pages, or send an email to [email protected]. This does need to be done before November 6, however, as that is when claims open for artists and teams will begin being assigned.
Is NSFW content allowed?
It is. Just please tag it as such. This is primarily so that an artist who is not comfortable drawing NSFW content, or who is a minor knows not to bid on your piece.
When are all the deadlines/when will my fic be posted?
The posting schedule for everyone will be announced on March 4 2024. You can find the full timeline of the event here!
You didn’t answer my question!
That's okay! The answer might be found in the check in details or rules page.
You are also free to contact us by messaging a mod, either of the event's social media or by emailing [email protected].We hope that your questions will have been answered and we look forward to seeing you if you're looking to sign up!
